This is a wedding cake I made last weekend. I made the seashells out of white chocolate and colored some of the chocolate. Then dusted the shells with a shiny dusting powder (edible) in a pink, pearl, bronze or champagne color. The 'sand' is actually brown sugar and white granulated sugar mixed. The pearls are candy 'beads' that I also dusted with the powder. My son Michael, and his friend went with me to deliver this cake and we had so much fun. We were just throwing 'sand' all over the table and instead of 'collecting' seashells as we have done all of our lives, we were putting shells in the sand. Placing the chocolate shells and the pearls all in the sand was a job I gave them as I was working on the cake sides, I stood still and watched as these two adults had as much fun playing in the sand, as they did when they were little. All I could picture was my children as little beach babies, reaching to pick up a treasure that they found along the shore. As I was lost in this memory, I could almost hear the waves, until Michael shouts 'OH-OH-'. That-- ladies and gentlemen, is NOT a word that a cake decorator wants to hear (and my son knew this). He just wanted to bring me back to reality so we could finish MY cake~lol. His friend said he loved to go with Michael because he never knew what fun thing we were going to do next.lol. And these 'boys' are now 21 years old. lol. Well, I just wanted to share a little bit of what I do on a daily basis. And this just happens to be one of my favorite cakes I've ever done. Everyone at the wedding was ecstatic over the cake too, and that is what makes all the hard work worth it. Thanks for looking. Have a great day and as always, God bless~~
